let's complete your question

or recessive???

now you're answer

when Mendel cross breed the pea plant then he get to know that the first generation had only tall plants when he self pollinate the genes there he get to know that the F2 generation had only one small plant which mean that the characteristic of the small plant was there in the first generation but it was overcome by the dominant trait and hence it was not seen in the first generation and we could see that in the second generation show the recessive trait .
