According to Lamarck's theory of use and disuse ,parts or organs which are used extensively become larger and stronger while the ones which are not used deteriorate. He explained this by taking example of a giraffe. He said that the giraffes evolved from ground feeding herbivores. But as the area fell short of ground vegetation , it took feeding from trees. Constant stretching of the neck and forelimbs of the giraffe resulted in these structures becoming long and strong so as to reach higher foliage.

Answer:

Jean-Baptiste Lamarck proposed that morphological changes occurring in living organisms are responsible for evolution, and the reason behind those morphological changes is activities or laziness of that organisms.

He called this concept as principle of 'use and disuse of organs'.
