HEY MATE...!

HERE IS UR ANSWER...!

During sunrise and sunset, the rays have to travel a larger part of the atmosphere because they are very close to the horizon. Therefore, light other than red is mostly scattered away. Most of the red light, which is the least scattered, enters our eyes. Hence, the sun and the sky appear red. Near the horizon sunlight passes through thicker layers of air having larger particles that scatter light of longer wavelength such as the red end of the spectrum. Also it travels larger distance at horizon before reaching the earth. However, light from the Sun overhead travels relatively shorter distance. At noon, the Sun appears white as only a little of the blue color is scattered whereas, near the horizon, most of the light of shorter wavelength at the blue end of the spectrum are scattered away by the small particles of the atmosphere. Therefore, the light that reaches our eyes is of longer wavelength which gives rise to the reddish appearance of the Sun.

HOPE IT HELPS...!

THANKS.

Required Answer :

The sun and the surrounding sky at sunrise because at that time most of the blue colour present in sunlight has been scattered out and away our line of sight, leaving behind mainly red colour in the direct sunlight beam that reaches our eyes.

Required Explanation :

At the time of sunrise and sunset when the sun is near the horizon, the sunlight has to travel the greatest distance through the atmosphere to reach us. During this long journey of Sunlight, most of the shorter wavelength blue-colour present in it is scatter out and away from our line of sight. So, the light reaching us directly from the rising sun or setting sun consists mainly of longer wavelengths rate due to which the sun appears red. Due to the same reason, the sky surrounding the rising sun and setting sun also appear red. Thus, at sunrise and sunset, the the sun itself as well as surrounding sky appear red.\:

Some more interesting things to know :

Why the sun appears white when it is overhead in the sky ?

➜ When the sun is overhead (as at noon), then does light coming from the sun has to travel a relatively shorter distance through the atmosphere to reach us. During this shorter journey of sunlight, only a little of the blue colour of white light is scattered (most of the blue light remains in it). Since the light coming from the overhead sun has almost all its compound colours is in the right to porportion, therefore, the sun in the sky over it appears white to us.
