explain in detail about subordinate Courts.

Subordinate court is a generic term which is used in reference to a court (superior court to subordinate courts). Taking the example of District Court all the courts below the District Court will be subordinate courts.

Please see the below examples;

District Subordinate courts, on the civil side (in ascending order) are, Junior Civil Judge (JCJ) Court, Principal Junior Civil Judge Court, Senior Civil Judge Court (also called sub-court).

District Subordinate courts, on the criminal side (in ascending order) are, Second Class Judicial Magistrate Court, First Class Judicial Magistrate Court, Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.

Subordinate Courts

The courts at the district level and below it are known as the subordinate courts. The Court subordinate to the high court are District Court and Revenue courts.

District Courts :-

These are of two types - civil and criminal. The judicial officer while dealing with the civil cases is known as the District Judge and while dealing with criminal cases is called session judge. Under each category there are lower courts. First class, second class and third class . Magistrates are at lower levels under the district judges. They also here appears against the decision of lower civil and criminal cases. Appeals against the decision of the district court go to the High Courts.

Revenue Courts :-

These Court deals with matters pertaining to land revenue. The Board of Revenue is the highest authority in revenue cases in the district. It is headed by the Divisional Commissioner who assist and works under the Deputy Commissioner who is called the collector. Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildar and Patwari work from division, block to village level respectively.
