sample: a group of items drawn from a population for examination .
the following are the various types of Sampling methods :
1.random sample method : random sample is selected in such a way that all items have an equal chance of being included in the sample .
a) systematic selection: this Quasi random users at a constant interval between items selected from a random start. it is also called interval sampling.
b) stratify: if there are factors which divide of the population in to identifiable sub population(strata)with different characteristics.
c) multistage selection: A multistage selection sample can be constructed by taking a series of sample random samples in stages. this is often more practically used for on location analysis example door to door survey.
2.non-random:
alternative sample methods may be used when random or Quasi random methods are not feasible I.e. due to to constraint of cost and time and if the whole population is not known.
types of non random:
a) quota sampling: this method of selecting a quarter of subjects is widely used in opinion polling and market research interviews or canvassers are each given. a quota of subjects of specify type.
2) cluster sampling the entire population is divided into small areas (clusters)from which random sample is selected all items in the clusters are included in the sample it is used when a teacher cannot get a complete list of the members of a population but can get a complete list of clusters with the populations.
