PENINSULAR PLATEAU》

☆ The peninsular plateau is located to the south of northern great plains. It covers is triangular in shape and covers an area of 16 lakh Sq.km .

☆ It is surrounded by hill ranges on all sides ,such as Aravalli ,Vindhya, Satpura and Rajmahal ranges in the north , the western Ghats in the west and the Eastern Ghats in the east.

☆ The average height of this plateau varies between 600 - 900 mts above the mean sea level.

☆ The general slope is from West to east, while in the Narmada - Tapti region it is from East to west .


☆ The Narmada River divides the Peninsular Plateau into two unequal parts.


☆ The Northern part is called the 'Central Highlands' and the southern part is called the 'Deccan plateau' .
