Step1

Rearing and Breeding of Sheeps.

  • The wool yielding sheep are given protein rich food, for example- mixture of corn, pulses etc. Sheep fed on such food and develop a good growth of shiny and curly hair.

  • According to the quality of wool required, the sheeps are categorized.

Step2

Shearing

  • The process of shaving off sheep in order to obtain fleece and a thin layer of skin is basically termed as shearing. it is done in spring season or in summer season.

Step3

Scouring

  • The process of removing dirt and dust from the hairs is basically termed as scouring. The scoured hair, then sent for drying.

Step4

Sorting

  • The dried hair which is of different texture are sorted out and the burrs are sent for reprocessing.

Step5

Carding

  • The process of straightening of curly wool fibres is basically termed as carding.

Step6

Dyeing

  • The process of colouring the wool fibres in different shades is basically termed as dyeing.

Step7

Spinning and Weaving

  • The process of converting the wool fibres into yarns is basically termed as spinning.

  • Then the spinned wool, then sent for weaving.

  • Longer fibres give wool yarn for sweaters whereas the shorter fibres spun into woollen cloths.

First the farmer sheares/cut the fleece(hair) of the sheep.Then the farmers cleans the fleece from dirt,oil. The fleece is then seperated into long,short,smooth,course. Then the fleece is dyed and is turned into yarn of wool.
