Endogenic forces: The forces coming from within the earth are called endogenic forces. These forces cause two types of movements in the earth i.e., horizontal movements and vertical movements. These movements motored by the endogenetic forces introduce various types of vertical irregularities which give birth to numerous varieties of relief features on the earth’s surface. For example, mountains, plains, plateaue etc. Volcanic eruptions and seismic events are also the result of endogenic forces. Such movements are called sudden movements and the forces resulting are called sudden forces. The origin of these forces are related to the interior of the earth about which our scientists are still searching for. On an average the origin of these forces is related to thermal conditions of the interior of the earth. Generally contraction and expansion of the underlying rocks being the basic reason, the displacement and readjustment of the geomaterials some times take place so rapidly that earth movements are caused below the crust.

Exogenic forces: The forces generated from the atmosphere due to varying combinations of temperature and moisture are called exogenetic or denudational processes. These are also sometimes called destructional processes. The forces are continuously engaged in the destruction of the relief features created by the endogenetic forces through their weathering, erosion and depositional activities.
