Drought is the result of man's insensitivity towards the environment. Below are the reasons for the above statement:

  • Drought could be defined as an area's prolonged state of remaining dry throughout. The drought stage is marked by the total parched condition of a particular place due to disturbance in the natural weather cycle.
  • The climatic conditions are worse and there is no availability of water resources. One of the major causes of drought is lack of rainfall, which leads to a shortage of water and that ultimately leads to major destruction due to natural disasters.
  • The insensitive acts of human beings are mostly responsible for such man-made disasters. Man is not careful while using water resources.
  • They do not practice sustainable use of water resources along with other important resources.
  • Lack of knowledge of rainwater harvesting also leads to droughts.
  • An increase in the act of deforestation by cutting down a large number of trees for the benefit of woods and fuels are the causes of conditions like drought.
  • The cutting down of trees leads to the formation of barren lands where the soil is incapable to hold and store water. This results in the drying out of groundwater, which leads to desertification.

Hence, the reasons explain how droughts are a result of man's insensitivity towards the environment.
