explain in your words how Amanda's freedom is curtailed
Answers
Explanation:
Amanda feels that her freedom has been curtailed. She is leading a controlled life under constant nagging. She wishes for a life free from all the restrictions. She wants to lead a life like a fairy, a mermaid or an orphan.
Amanda's freedom is curtailed because she is bound by too many rules and restrictions imposed upon her by her mother and so does not have the freedom to live as she wants to.
Amanda's mother nags her continuously, for one thing or another. She stops Amanda from biting her nails to eating chocolates. She also nags Amanda about how she sits ('Don't hunch your shoulders'), to what she does or doesn't do, like cleaning her shoes, to how she behaves ( 'Stop that sulking').
Anything that Amanda does, gets a negative reaction from her mother, which is why she feels restricted and wishes to live in complete isolation, like an orphan and Rapunzel.
