Explain Increase and decrease in blood pressure.
Answers
High blood pressure, or hypertension, occurs when your blood pressure increases to unhealthy levels. Your blood pressure measurement takes into account how much blood is passing through your blood vessels and the amount of resistance the blood meets while the heart is pumping.
Narrow arteries increase resistance. The narrower your arteries are, the higher your blood pressure will be. Over the long term, increased pressure can cause health issues, including heart disease.Low blood pressure might seem desirable, and for some people, it causes no problems. However, for many people, abnormally low blood pressure (hypotension) can cause dizziness and fainting. In severe cases, low blood pressure can be life-threatening.
Answer:
Blood pressure is the pressure which the blood flowing through the arteries exerts on their walls.
This pressure has two limits - the upper limit which is at the time when fresh blood is pushing through the artery as a result of the ventricular systole of the heart. The lower limit is the one recorded when the wave has passed over.
A rise in blood pressure above 140/90 is known as hypertension or popularly known as high blood pressure.
