RESPIRATION
- Respiration is the chemical process, which involves breathing in oxygen , breathing out carbon dioxide & breakdown of food using oxide to release energy.
DETAILED EXPLANATION
- All living organisms require energy to carry out various life processes . like nutrition, transport, excretion, reproduction, etc. This energy is stored in the food that we eat .
- In order to break down food to release energy oxidation of food takes place. This reaction takes place in the cells of the body of the organisms.
- The oxygen needed for the oxidation comes from the air that we inhale. This oxygen is then transported to every cell.
- Thus, the process in which food is broken down to release energy is called respiration. During respiration, carbon dioxide and water are released as waste - products.
Types of Respiration :-
- Aerobic respiration requires oxygen and releases lots of energy.
- Anaerobic respiration does not require oxygen and releases less energy.
