explain Ion exchange process for the removal of hardness of water for long type question answers

To remove sodium ion and bicarbonate and sulphate ions water is passed through synthetically prepared cation and anion exchange resins one by one sodium ions are replaced by hydroxyl ions and bicarbonate and sulphate ions by hydroxyl ions and water gets completely deionized
