Ionization or ionisation, is the process by which an atom or a molecule acquires a negative or positive charge by gaining or losing electrons to form ions, often in conjunction with other chemical changes.

ionisation of gases:-also know as plasma a fundamental state of matter just like solid liquid or gas. What is special about ionised gass is that they don't exist naturally on the earth. The region behind that is they exist at a high temperatures pressure. These condition are hard to maintain in open atmosphere.
Ionised gas is made of particles which have lost one or more electrons. This results in a positive charge of at least +1 on the ionised gas atom or molecule.
