It is easier to cut with a sharp knife than with a blunt one because in sharp knife surface area gets reduced and hence it becomes easy to cut with it while in blunt one surface area is more which makes it difficult to cut.

This is because Area of blunt knife is more, therefore pressure is appied less on the object you are cutting. If we talk about sharp knife, area is less and pressure increase on the object you are cutting.
