Answer:

At a time when people fight over caste and creed, there exists a place where there is no divide in the name of religion. Irrespective of their beliefs, people come here and mingle, setting an example of communal harmony and oneness.

If Mohd Khaja manages the parking stand then Ramesh has no qualms parking his vehicle there. No one hesitates to buy confectionary and flowers from Muthyalu and similarly Chand bhai faces no discrimination from Hindu devotees who buy ‘chadaar' from him for offering at the shrine.

Welcome to Jahangir Peer Dargah situated at a distance of 44 kilometres from the Nehru zoological park. People cutting across religious barriers come here to realise their wishes. We come here since our childhood days. It is a place where humanity and brotherhood takes the lead over other issues,” says Narsing Rao, a resident of Nagole who came here to offer ‘chadaar' at the shrine.

Interestingly, the number of Hindu devotees visiting the shrine is more on certain occasions. About the saints buried here, it is believed, that they were soldiers who came along with an army from Baghdad (Iraq) and martyred in a battle waged for the Golconda kingdom.

However, some years after their death, a shepherd who lost a few of his sheep prayed at their graves and eventually got them back.

“Since then the Dargah has become a popular destination for both Hindus and Muslims. They come here and make a wish and when it is fulfilled they return and offer ‘chadaar' and conduct ‘niyaz' as a thanksgiving,” says Dargah superintendant, Shaik Zahoor Alam.

Over the years it has turned into a picnic spot. Families can be seen cooking food and having a lively time. On Sundays, the turnout is close to 15,000 and more.

A large number of devotees come here through RTC buses while a few uses personal vehicles and other modes of transport .

Children have a gala time riding the giant wheel and ‘jhoolas'. The amenities for visitors have improved over the years with muddy structures giving way to pucca houses.
