JIT stands for Just In Time. This is a type of production approach where a company starts manufacturing the goods only after receiving orders from the customer. This eliminates wastage of time, storage space and labour. This concept is practically feasible in India for those industries that are suffering from problems such as reliability issues, high defect and waste rates, long delays and low productivity and quality.

There are many well-known industries in India that have adopted the JIT approach to improve their product quality. Some of them are Tisco, Maruti Udyog Ltd., Escorts, TVS and Telco to mention just a few.
