According to Karl Marx historiography was not about abstract ideas. Instead it was about human relationships. Human relationships are shaped by fundamental needs and the ownership as well as nature of the prevalent means of production to fulfill these needs. However accessibility of these means might not be equal to all parts of the society. Due to this the society gets divided into various classes leading to class struggle . According to Marx history is about this class struggle as the class which owns the means of production economically exploits other classes. On this idea Marx had written a book "Das Kapital"
