Johannes Kepler gave three empirical laws-
Kepler's first law
According to Kepler's first law of planetary motion, every planet revolves around the sun in an elliptical orbit with the sun situated at one of the foci of ellipse.
Kepler's second law
According to Kepler's second law, each planet moves in such a way that an imaginary line drawn from the sun to the planet sweeps out equal areas in equal intervals of time.
Kepler's third law
According to Kepler's third law,the cube of planets average distance from the sun is directly proportional to the square of time period of revolution of a planet around the sun.
✌️Hope it helps you ✌️
Thank you

The square of the orbital period of planet is directly proportional to the cube of the semi-major axis of its orbit. This captures the relation between the distance of the planets from the sun ,and their orbital period
