1. sovereingnty with people :in democracy sovereignity rests with the people who are also the source of power . government gets all its power fom the people and is answerable to them for the use of these powers.

2. rule of majority: present democracy is also known as the rule of majority.

3. equality :equality is also one of the pillars of democracy .in democracy every body is given equal status and no discrimination is made on the basis of cast,religion,colour race,etc....... every individual gets political and civil rights.
