Kinetic energy is the energy that is possessed by an object in motion. It is defined as the work needed to accelerate a body of a given mass from rest to its stated velocity. Having gained this energy during its acceleration, the body maintains this kinetic energy unless its speed changes.

The energy posses by a body due to its motion is called kinetic energy and every moving body has a certain kientic energy associated with it.

Kinetic energy of a body depends on its mass and speed and it is also related to the momentum of a body which also a kinetic property.

KE = 1/2(mv2)

and

KE = p2/2m

where m = mass of the body

v = speed of the body

p =momentum of the body

SI unit of kinetic energy is same as that of energy i.e. Joules (J) and its derived unit is kg-m2 s-2.

Thus a body with greater momentum would posses grater kinetic energy....

hopefully this will help uh ! ...
