Explain land use pattern in India and why has the land under forest not increased much since 1960-61?

due to the forest act Britishers started a pattern called Scientific Forestry in which one type of trees are grown in rows and cut one rows then another and then other row in grown again . it is not increased because of massive use of forests for sleepers of train and ship buildings of britishers
