According to this law,

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Factors Of different characters assort ( segregate ) independent of each other during gametogenesis ( gamete formation ) and fuse randomly to form next generation."Explanation : New combinations [ Yellow round and green wrinkled ] were produced only if the factors of yellow and round character separated independent ( without influencing ) of each other. Similarly, the factors of green and wrinkled characters are separated during gamete formation. They are rearranged randomly during fertilization and produce new combinations.

The law of independent assortment states that when two parents differing from each other in two or more pairs of contrasting characters are crossed, then the inheritance of one pair of character is independent of the other pair of character.

explanation - for example - when we cross a pure tall , red flowerd pea plant with a pure dwarf white flowerd pea plant, we get 9 tall red , 3 tall white , 3 dwarf red and 1 dwarf white plants in F2 generation, A cross between two homozygous individuals differing in two pairs of contrasting characters is called dihybrid cross.

I hope it's helpful..
