A lens with one convex and one concave side is convex-concave or meniscus. It is this type of lens that is most commonly used in corrective lenses. Lenses are classified based on the way the light rays entering them are bent. The two main types of lenses are: Convex Lens (Converging) Concave Lens (Diverging). There are two types of lenses convex and concave. Convex lenses are lenses that curve outwards, they converge parallel light rays to a focal point. Concave lenses are thinner in the middle and thicker at their edges. Concave lenses diverge parallel light rays away from each other.
