Here is your answer in simple words . . . . . . . . .

According to the Lewis theory for acids and bases ,

Any substance that accepts electron is a Lewis acid and any substance that loses electron is a Lewis base ( acids break to form H+ ions in a solution and bases break to form OH - ion in a solution ).

Examples are as follows :--

NH3combines with hydrogen ion .

In this reaction the compound NH3 is a Lewis base as it has two electrons that it can donate to H as per the electron dot structure and hydrogen acts as a Lewis acid as it can gain electron so as to attain its stability.

EXTRA KNOWLEDGE : Lewis Theory is also known as the ELECTRONIC THEORY as it deals mainly with the lose and gain of electrons.

Hope it helps you !!!
