Life cycle of a butterfly
↪The butterfly has a four staged life cycle.
↪The adult butterfly lays eggs on a plant which acts as a food for their development.These larvae are known as caterpillars. The caterpillar rapidly grows in a pupa.
↪After the completion of all the stages of metamorphosis the pupal skin splits.
↪The adult insect climbs out of the pupal skin and expand its wings.
↪When the wings dry the insect flies away.

To reach the adult state, all butterflies go through four stages which are as the follows:-
1) egg : Eggs are laid by the female adult butterflies on plants which later serve as a source of food for the caterpillar.
2) larva OR caterpillar : This is the feeding stage to grow healthy as a butterfly.
3) pupa : When a caterpillar is fully grown it develops into a pupa.
4) adult : Finally the adult stage is the reproductive stage.
