The haploid generation produces gametes by mitosis .these fuse to from zygotes that develop in to the diploid generation.the cells of diploid generation produce spores by meiosis these settle on rock and grow in to the haploid generation .The haploid and diploid generations are often indistinguishable in the green algae.
