WHAT IS THE OHM'S LAW?

  • It states that the voltage across a resistor is directly proportional to the current flowing through the resistance

                                            V = IR

            where,

V = voltage

I = current

R = resistor

LIMITATIONS

  • For non ohmic devices the value of R is not a constant.
  • It does not apply for devices which do not have same voltage current relation for both directions of current.
  • If the physical conditions such as temperature or pressure are not kept constant (or not in proper range) then ohms law may not give expected results.
