the process of liquefaction of gasses is simple. When gases are cooled down, the kinetic energy of it's molecules decrease, they come close together, intermolecular space decrease so the attraction between molecules increase and when molecules come close enough, the gas turns into liquid. If we apply pressure on gas the gas can be liquified with less cooling but the gas has to be cooled to a minimum temperature to liquify ,above that temperature the gas cannot be cooled even if any amount of pressure is applied on the gas. This minimum temperature is different for different gases.
