RAJYA SABHA- it is also known as the council of states.Its total membership is 245.It is chaired by the vice-president of INDIA.

LOK SABHA-It is also known as the House of the People.Its total membership is 545.Its is over by the speaker.

Rajya Sabha:-

• It is the upper house of the parliament. It is also called the Council of States.
• The chairman of Rajya Sabha is the Vice President of India. Our current chairman of 2020 is M. Venkaiah Naidu, who is also the Vice President of India.
• The maximum strength of Rajya Sabha is 250, 238 members are elected, who represents the States, Union Territories and the National capital territory ( Delhi). While 12 members are nominated by the president with the advice and recommendations of the Prime Minister. These nominated people are  eminent persons from the field of Literature, Science, Art and Social Service.They are nominated for six years, with a provision that one third (4 out of 12) shall retire after every two years.
• Tenure is 6 years but 1/3rd of the people will retire after 2 years.

Basic Qualifications to become the member of Rajya Sabha is :-

• He must be the citizen of India.
• He must not be less than 30 years of age.
• He must be Parliamentary elector in the state from which he is seeking election.
• He should neither be insane, nor bankrupt.
• He must possess such other qualifications as may be prescribed by the Parliament for that purpose from time to time.

Lok Sabha:-

• Lok Sabha is the House of the people.
• It is the Lower House of the parliament.
• The speaker is Om Birla.
• Maximum strength is 552, Where 550 are elected and 2 anre nominated.
• The Tenure for Lok Sabha is 5 years.

Basic qualifications of the members of Lok Sabha:-

• Must be a citizen of India.
• must be not less than 25 years of age.
• Should not hold any office of profit.
• Should neither be insane nor bankrupt.
• Should possess all those qualification prescribed by the Parliament from time to time.
