The lymphatic system has multiple interrelated functions: It is responsible for the removal of interstitial fluid from tissues. It absorbs and transports fatty acids and fats as chyle from the digestive system. It transports white blood cells to and from the lymph nodes into the bones.

Lymph is an interstitial fluid or tissue fluid found in spaces between the cells. It is watery clear fluid or colourless because it lacks red blood cells (erythrocytes). Lymph picks up bacteria and viruses so that it can be destroyed. Thus, it helps in defence .It also helps in carrying digested and absorbed fats from intestine.

Lymphatic system is a part of the circulatory system and comprises of lymphatic vessels that carry lymph towards the heart and the lymphatic organs that play a vital role in immune system
