M-phase is the most dramatic period of the cell cycle, involving a major reorganization of virtually all cell components.During mitosis (nuclear division),the chromosomes condense, the nuclear envelope of most cells break down, the cytoskeleton reorganizes to form the mitotic spindle, and the chromosome moves to opposite poles.Chromosome segregation is then usually followed by cell division(cytokinesis).

M phase is the very brief stage of the cell division. It is also known as Mitotic phase. In this stage basically the division of nucleus takes place. Although a very short stage yet it is very complex and highly regulated. Mitosis is the process by which a eukaryotic cell separates the chromosomes in its cell nucleus into two identical sets in two nuclei. During this phase, the chromosomes gets condense and gets attached to the fibers and gets pulled on the opposite sides.
