Unsuitable dressing code was a more powerful political statement unto Mahatma Gandhi.Gandhi first appeared in Lungi and kurta with his head shaved as a sign of mourning to protest against the shooting of Indian coal miners in Durban in 1913.He later decided to dress like a kathiawadi peasant on his return journey to india in 1915.He later adopted the short dhati,the form of dress he wore untill his death in 1921.
