Maxwell's corkscrew rule states that if a screw represents a straight current carrying conductor then the movement of rotation of the screw represents the direction of magnetic field.

If we consider ourselves driving a corkscrew in the direction of the current , then the direction of the corkscrew is the direction of the magnetic field.
