1/v -1/u=1/f
where v is image distance.
u is object distance.
f is focal length.

hey... here's ur answer,
1) If an object is placed at distance ù from the optical centre of lens and it's image is formed at distance v and focal length is f then,
1/ v. - 1/ u. = 1/ f
This is called " lens formula " .
