Answer:

acids are sour in taste but base are bitter in taste.the ph of acid is below 7 but the ph of base is greater than 7 and a neutral salt has its ph equal to 7. the oxides of metals are basic in nature but oxides of non metals are acidic in nature. there are many detectors to determine acidic and basic substances

they are litmus paper, universal indicators etc. the litmus paper turns blue when it is dipped in a basic solution but it turn red when it reacts with acid. the universal indicators show different colors on reaction with acid and bases.

a acid has hydronium ions (H3O) and bases have OH ions .

reaction of a strong acid and strong base give neutral salts .reaction of a strong acid but weak base give acidic salt. reaction of strong base to a weak acid give basic salts.
