It is a highly exothermic process.Care must be taken while adding concentrated acids to water. Always acids should be added to water with constant stirring. If water is added to a concentrated acid then the acid may splash out and cause burns and the beaker may also break due to excessive local heating. This process is known as dilution and the acid added is said to be diluted

if you want to dilute a concentrated acid....then just add acid into the water by continuous stirring....then it will become diluted.
