HELLO FRIEND...

The Groups Which Bear NEGATIVE charge it means that they Have Many elctrons and These groups Donate...

If they have POSITIVE charge means they have deficeincy of electrons and they will take electrons....

Activating Groups are those which release electons to the chain to whoch they are attached whether it is straight or ring..

Deactivating are those which take electrons from the parent chain...

rohirestle: so activating groups and electron donating group are same?
rohirestle: hey are you there
Harjot1011: Electron donating groups can donate to any other electron deficient but Activating can only give to Their parent chain
Harjot1011: but they are same in most cases
Harjot1011: mark me as brainliest please
rohirestle: would you help me in my chemistry doubts??

the functional groups which when attached to any compound withdraws electrons towards itself are called electron withdrawing group
and those groups which donates electron are called electron donating group...

When attached to a benzene molecule an electron withdrawing group makes electrophilic aromatic substitution reactions slower and more complex, and EWGs are often called deactivating groups.
and EDGs are often called activating groups as they increases the electrons density in benzene and makes eas reactions more fastly
