Mendal's Law of Independent Assortment (Third Law)

According to Mendal , the Law of independent Assortment states that when two pairs of traits are combined in a hybrid, segregation and inheritance of one pair of characters or traits is independent of the other pair of characters or traits.

Means if the inheritance of two or more than two genes is considered ,

their distribution in gametes and in progeny  of generations is independent of each other.

This law can be experimented in steps as followed :

Step 1)

Establishment of true breeding lines that differed in two characters (double dominant and double recessive)

Step2)

Than he made a dihybrid cross of the above varieties and found all F1 are same which shows the presence of one factor  didn't influence the other.

Step 3)

Mendal than self pollinated the F1 offspring and analysed the products.

Mendel's law of independent assortment states that the alleles of two (or more) different genes get sorted into gametes independently of one another. In other words, the allele a gamete receives for one gene does not influence the allele received for another gene.
