classified as – apical , lateral and intercalary .
1. Apical meristem : It is present at the growing tips of stems and roots . It increases the length of the stem and the roots .
2. Lateral meristem : These are found benefits the bark and in vascular bundles of dicot roots and stems . They are responsible for increasing the thickness (girth) of the stem and roots .
3. Intercalary meristem : These are found at the base of the leaves or near
the nodes and increase the length of leaves and internodes .
