Meristematic tissues are growing tissues found in the regions of the plant that grow . Depending on the region where they are present , meristematic tissues are

classified as – apical , lateral and intercalary .

1. Apical meristem : It is present at the growing tips of stems and roots . It increases the length of the stem and the roots .

2. Lateral meristem : These are found benefits the bark and in vascular bundles of dicot roots and stems . They are responsible for increasing the thickness (girth) of the stem and roots .
