A meristem is the tissue in most plants containing undifferentiated cells, found in zones of the plant where growth can take place. Meristematic cells give rise to various organs of a plant and are responsible for growth. Differentiated plant cells generally cannot divide or produce cells of a different type.

1. tissue made up of the cells which posses the power of cell division is called MERISTEMATIC plant tissue.

2.Meristematic cells are all living cells. The meristematic cells can be oval or rounded or polygonal in shape.

3. They have a large nucleus with no vacuoles. Intercellular space between cells is absent.

4.The cells are also small in size but have a high capacity of cell division.
