Meristematic tissues are the tissues that are found only in the growing regions of plants.
They are also called as dividing tissues.
Depending on the region where they are present they are divided into: apical , lateral and intercalary meristem.
Apical meristem is present in the growing tips of stem and root.
The girth(width) of the stem or root increases due to lateral meristem.
The intercalary meristem is present at the base of the leaves or internodes on twigs.
