The Mitochondria are found in Eukaryotic cells only and missing in prokaryotic cells The Mitochondria perform the function of generating energy required by the cells therefore these are called power house of the cell the number of Mitochondria is different in different types of cell of an organism the cell which need more energy have more number of Mitochondria was discovered by a scientist name kolliker in 1880 was given name Mitochondria a singular which was there by Benda
