The modern methods of irrigation help us use water economically by preventing wastage. The two main modern methods of irrigation are:
- Sprinkler system - In sprinkler system of irrigation, a main pipe is laid in the fields having rotating nozzles. This water gets sprinkled on the crop plants. The sprinkler system is useful for uneven land and sandy soil.
- Drip irrigation - In drip irrigation, there is a network of narrow pipelines with small holes, laid out in the fields. Due to the small holes, the water falls drop by drop directly to the roots of the plants. In this way, water isn't wasted at all.
