molality-moles per kilogram solvent.

molarity is the number of moles of solute per litre of solution... (mol/litre)........therefore M = no. of moles of solute / vol of solution.........
molality is the no. of moles of solute per kg of solvent..... therefore  
m = no. of moles of solute / weight of solvent in kg....
