Molecules -

Molecule is made up of more than 1 atom or group of atoms chemically combined with one another .

It is capable of independent existence and is of two types :-

Molecules of elements .

Ex :- O2 , H2O

Molecules of compounds .

Ex :- Nacl , Hcl

Ions -

Ions are the negatively or positively charged atoms. They are monoatomic ions or polyatomic ions.

Negatively charged ions are known as Anions.

Positively charged ions are known as Cations.

Ex :- sodium ion Na+ , chloride ion cl- , and oxide ion O2 -.

Atomicity -

The number of atoms in an element or compound is known as its atomicity.

Hence , elements are monoatomic , diatomic ,triatomic , polyatomic etc.
