→ It is the Second largest Animalia kingdom.
→ They have organ system level of organization.
→ They have Bilateral Symmetry and are Triploblastic animals.
a) Bilateral Symmetry :- The body can be divided into a two similar halves by a single plane.
b) Triploblastic :- In which three layers namely endoderm, ectoderm and mesoderm are present.
→ They respire through gills.
→ Complete digestive system is present in them.
→ Circulatory system is mostly open. Blue respiratory pigment called hemocyanin.
→ They are usually unsegmented. Neoplinia is the only segmented Mollusca.
→ Foot are present in them which act as appendages.
→ The body is usually differentiated into three regions namely;
* Anterior head with sense organs.
* Dorsal visceral mass containing organ system.
* And ventral foot for movement.
→ These are soft bodies and shell animals.
→ The body has variety of shapes.
→ Ex :- Snails, Slugs, Oyster, Cuttlefish etc.

- Their soft body is covered by a exoskeleton which is made up of calcareous shell.
- Between the exoskeleton and visceral mass there is a membrane called mantle which possesses mantle cavity.
- Sexes are usually separate but few are hermaphrodite.
Example - Pila, Aplysia etc.
