There are lots of difference between dicot stem and monocot stem.

Dicot stem have trichomes, monocot stem do not have trichomes.Dicot stem has collenchymatous hypodermis, monocots have sclerenchymatous hypodermis.Dicot stem has cortex, endodermis, pericycle, pith, medullary rays or pith rays. Monocot stem do not have any of these.Dicot stem shows secondary growth, cambium is present between xylem and phloem. Vascular bundle is open, conjoint, collateral, endarch condition is present.Monocot stem do not have cambium, do not shows secondary growth, vascular bundle is closed and scattered. All vascular bundles are of same size in dicot stem, and at the same radius. In monocot stem, vascular bundles in the center are much bigger than at periphery. In monocot stem, vascular bundle is Y shaped with phloem at periphery and xylem towards centre.A xylem cavity or water cavity is present below metaxylem in monocot.Dicot stem do not have these structures.

Hey mate

Flowering Plants can be differentiated into two types monocots and dicots.

● Monocots have a single cotyledon present in them where as dicots have two cotyledons.

● the vascular bundles in monocot stems are not arranged in a definite shape whereas in a Dicot stem these are mainly arranged in a shape of Broken ring.

● monocots have bundle sheath which surrounds the vascular bundles part the bundle sheath is absent in the Dicot stem.

● the hypodermis in monocots is made up of sclerenchyma and in dicots it is made up of collenchyma.

Hope that helps you
