Monosaccharides are said to be the  simplest carbohydrates as they cannot be break into smaller carbohydrates. Monosaccharides are considered as the building blocks for nucleic acids.

The comparison between the anomer of glucose are-

The structure of alpha glucose and beta glucose are almost identical. But in the alpha form the OH group is present far right down while in the beta form, the OH group is present in the far right up. These differences are present at the 1st carbon atom.

Beta-glucose is shows greater stability than alpha glucose.

Alpha glucose molecules are linked chemically to form starch but glucose molecules are joined to form cellulose.
