Explain name the part of the circle with an example
Answers
What are parts of a circle?
Answer:
Many things we experience in our everyday lives are ’round’ in form, such as bangles, coin, bottle caps, the wheels, Earth and so on. The closed plane figure is recognized as a circle, which is generated by the set of all points that are equidistant from a fixed point in the same plane. In other terms, a circle can be defined as the locus of a point moving in a plane, in such a way that its distance from a fixed point is always constant.
Parts of the circle
A circle can have various parts and depending on the shape and position, these can be identified as follows.
Radius
The constant distance between the centre and any point in the circle is named as the radius.
Centre
The fixed point in the circle is recognized as the centre.
Circumstances
The circumference of a circle can be described as the distance around it.
Diameter
A chord passing through the centre of the circle is regarded as the circle’s diameter, and it is the circle’s largest chord.
Secant
A secant line represents line which intersects a circle at two points.
Tangent
A line reaching the circle at one single point is recognized as the tangent to the circle.
Arc
An arc is referred to as a part of the circumference of the circle. An arc is a fragment of a circle that is continuous.
Chord
The chord of the circle is called a line segment connecting two distinct points on the circumference of a circle. Several chords can be present in the circle.
Sector
The part bounded by two radii and an arc of a circle is a sector of a circle.
Segment
A part of a circle surrounded by a chord and an arc is known as a circle segment.
